“I Segnalati” Velli Palace 

ROME, ITALY

The beautiful city of Rome hosted the “I Segnalati” art exhibition organized by Salvatore Russo. The most recent installment of the art collection was exhibited this year in Italy’s capital city, after having been exhibited in recent years in Paris, Brussels, New York, Edinburgh, Naples, and Berlin. The exhibition took place on July 5-8 in Rome’s impressive Palazzo Velli Expo facility.

“Sogni” Baticcie Exhibition

MUSSOMELI, SICILY, ITALY

The “Sogni” exhibition was officially opened with dignitaries from Mussomeli in attendance: Giuseppe Catania, Sebastiano Lo Conte, Elio Di Salvo, among others, as well as Roman art curator Chiara Candellone Sticca, and of course Juan Carlos de Lara. Karla de Lara’s pieces commemorate the Battichiè event by evoking the atmosphere of the 1940s.

Commemorative mural for the Mussomeli Anthropology Museum Mussomeli Film Festival

MUSSOMELI, SICILY, ITALY

The mural Karla de Lara created especially for the Mussomeli Anthropology Museum was unveiled at the Sicilian Film Festival. The hundreds of people who attended helped make the event spectacular, enjoyable and welcoming. The mural will remain as a permanent addition to the museum.

11th Florence Biennial 2017
International Contemporary Art Exhibition EARTH – Creativity and sustainability Fortezza da Basso

FLORENCE, ITALY

A major exhibition of contemporary art in Florence, a showcase of excellence for the production of international contemporary art. In its 11th installment under the theme “EARTH – Creativity and sustainability,” the Florence Biennial presented 462 artists from 72 countries. A diverse program of events including conferences, presentations, educational initiatives, and video projections offered presenters and visitors the chance to meet and discuss numerous aspects of art and culture, with a focus on the theme of this year’s event.

The Lorenzo il Magnifico career prize, which is granted to people and institutions that have distinguished themselves through artistic merit or by making cultural contributions, will be awarded in 2018 to the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and the Ghanaian artist El Anatsui (venedi). A special President’s prize will be awarded to the young German artist Tim Bengel, and the commemorative career prize will be awarded to sculptor Sauro Cavallini, who died in July 2016.

“Esencia”

MEXICO CITY

“Esencia” is the most important exhibition of pop art by a Mexican artist held in Mexico. The President of the Mexican Stock Exchange, Luis Tellez Kuenzler, opened the exhibition and spoke about Karla de Lara’s work, with more than 300 special guests and a host of major media representatives in attendance. In particular: Dr. Raquel Birman de Bessudo, Alejandra Del Río, Claudia Dorenbaum, Celso Zubire (former President of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana), Gabriela Sodi, Alejandro Gómez Oropeza, Xólotl Polo, among others. Also attending were prominent Mexican political and social figures.

Salvador Rueda Smithers commissioned Guadalajara artist Karla de Lara to paint a piece to commemorate the 74th Anniversary of the National Museum of History. On September 27, Visiones was unveiled. It was the first painting in 46 years to be added to the museum’s permanent collection.

“Reminiscencias”

As part of the 2013 Zacatecas Cultural Festival, at which Jalisco was the guest of honor, the Francisco Goitia Museum presented the exhibition Reminiscencias by Guadalajara artist Karla de Lara. The event was presided over by the museum director Lourdes Fava, Zacatecas Institute of Culture director Gustavo Salinas Iñiguez, IZC technical secretary Victor Carreón, museum deputy director Felipe de Jesús Rosales Aguilar and museum general coordinator Alejandro Ramos Rambaud. Also attending were prominent representatives from the fields of culture and media, in addition to other distinguished guests from the beautiful city of Zacatecas.

Mural commemorating Expo Guadalajara´s 30th anniversary

GUADALAJARA,  MEXICO

To commemorate Expo Guadalajara’s 30th anniversary, Karla de Lara was commissioned to paint a monumental mural that would pay homage to the city’s identity and beauty and at the same time draw attention to the venue’s most important events. The result was a mural considered to be the largest in Jalisco.
